Click plate

The EQUAL Control Lever has made cycling more diverse and enjoyable.
Now, to make this lever accepted by even more people, the click plate comes into play.
In races, in touring, and in city rides,
the lever fits any scene.

With the click plate,
the EQUAL Control Lever becomes even easier to use.

Shifting with Click and Feel

The Click Plate is an optional part that, when installed on the EQUAL control lever, provides a distinct “click” sound and tactile feedback during shifting.
The basic operation remains unchanged, making it a recommended option for riders who prefer to clearly feel the lever stroke, similar to conventional levers.

Easy to Attach and Remove

Attaching and removing the click plate is simple. Of course, once removed, you can return to smooth, satisfying stepless shifting.
You can switch between silent, smooth operation and a crisp, tactile click—whatever suits your mood that day.

For Proper Use of the Click Plate

  • Always use the designated rear derailleur, sprocket, and cable pulley for each click plate. Using any other combination may prevent you from experiencing the correct click feel.
  • Be careful not to use a sprocket that exceeds the rear derailleur's capacity. For more details, please refer to this page.
  • For information on the rear derailleur tension types (single spring and double spring) and how to check them, please refer to this page.
  • For the Ver.0101 control lever, please purchase the "Click Plate XXX for Ver.0101" package. To check the version of your control lever, please refer to this page.
For details about the package, see this page.

Click Plate Documents

This document describes an early version of the control lever that was sold only in Japan.
It does not apply to the products shipped overseas (Ver.0201 and later).

Click Plate FAQ

There are two types of packages for each Click Plate model number:

Click Plate Only

For users of Control Lever Ver.0201. Labeled as "Click Plate XXX".

Please purchase this package for products shipped overseas (Ver.0201 and later).

Click Plate + Accessory Set (Japan Domestic Package)

For users of Control Lever Ver.0101. Labeled as "Click Plate XXX for Ver.0101".

In addition to the Click Plate itself, this package includes the cable pulley and under cover used with Control Lever Ver.0201. These accessories need to be replaced when using the Click Plate.

Click Plate + Accessory Set

Both packages are sold at the same price.

* For instructions on how to check your Control Lever version, please refer to this page.

You can check the version by lifting the bracket cover.
Ver.0101 has no markings, while Ver.0201 and later have a four-digit number engraved.

The engraved number indicates the version. The photo shows Ver.0201.
If there is no engraving, it is Ver.0101.

There is no specific replacement schedule. Over time, normal use will cause gradual wear, and the click feel of the shifting may become less distinct. Please replace it with a new one when you notice that smooth and precise shifting is no longer maintained.

Rear derailleurs are designed to maintain chain tension regardless of which gear the chain is on. There are mainly two types: Single-Spring and Double-Spring.
Single-Spring derailleurs maintain chain tension using only the spring on the pulley cage rotation axis (P-tension).
Double-Spring derailleurs have an additional spring at the derailleur mount (B-tension), providing tension at two points.

If you are unsure which type of derailleur you have, please contact the store where you purchased it.

No. The Click Plate adds a "click feel" to the control lever to make the operation of the shifting levers (A/B) easier to feel.
It only provides tactile feedback; the control method of the rear derailleur remains friction-based.

  • Please first check that the Click Plate has been installed correctly.
  • Make sure you are using a rear derailleur, cassette, and cable pulley that correspond to the Click Plate model number.
  • Check that the frame or derailleur hanger is not bent, the shift cable is not too loose or too tight, the chain is not stretched, the pulleys and cassette are not worn, and the friction nuts are properly tightened.

If everything above is in order, adjust the derailleur stop positions by operating the shifting levers (A/B). When doing so, try to keep the guide pulley as close to the cassette as possible.

Once the click plate is installed, the lever operation will feel slightly stiffer than before. However, as you continue using it, the parts will gradually break in, and the operation will become smoother.
Be sure to apply grease for lubrication to the click plate before installation (see user manual).
