The EQUAL mechanical disc brake caliper is compatible with short-pull brake levers (※) that actuate the brake via cable, just like rim brakes.Hydraulic disc brake levers are not compatible.
※ Short-pull levers may also be referred to as:
・Road levers
・Canti brake levers
・Caliper brake levers
・Mini V-brake levers(standard V-brake levers are not compatible))
Shimano, Campagnolo, SRAM, and other manufacturers have different lever ratios due to differences in design philosophy. However, our brake caliper is designed to target the median value across these manufacturers, making it compatible with any brand.
We have confirmed that it works without issue with both new and old brake levers from Shimano, Campagnolo, SRAM, and others.
Regarding the incompatibility of V-brake
When an EQUAL mechanical disc brake caliper is used with a lever designed for V-brakes (i.e., with a V-brake lever ratio), braking performance will be weaker compared to using a lever designed for canti brakes.
As this combination does not allow the caliper to perform as designed, V-brake levers are not supported.
